I spoke about this with Blake earlier, but we were unable to come to a definite conclusion though we're pretty sure that the rule is as follows:
A pitcher must have some part of their back foot touching some part of the rubber at all times during the release of the ball towards home plate.
Last year at the London Tournament I was told off for standing further to the right of the rubber, which gave me an angle of about 6 or 7 feet more 'slide' to the pitch given I'm a side-arm thrower. However, as was discussed I think that I'm allowed to do that as long as I'm touching the rubber. There's nothing necessarily illegal about it, surely?
Also - when coming from the stretch you're allowed to make a throw to first (left-handed pitcher) or third (right handed pitcher) even after initially going into a delivery, as long as the front foot doesn't go more than 45º towards home plate. However, I think there is a rule whereby if the pitcher brings their front foot past the back foot when going to deliver the pitch it means you have to go towards home plate, else it's a baulk. Is this the case?
